About FOSIC
The Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) is one of the leading state-owned universities in Nigeria. Established in 1992, the University offers a wide range of programs—from full-time certificates, diplomas, and degree programs to part-time evening and weekend degrees. DELSU also offers postgraduate studies up to the doctoral level. With over 35,000 students and 12 faculties, the University continues to be a hub of academic excellence.
The Faculty of Science held its first annual conference from February 1–4, 2010, with the theme: "Investing in Science: Growth and Sustainable Development of Delta State."
Conference Evolution
It is widely acknowledged that the classification of nations as developed or developing is largely influenced by their level of scientific and technological advancement. A nation's ability to harness its human, natural, and artificial resources effectively determines its economic success—and this, in turn, relies on its scientific and technological capabilities.
Nigeria is richly endowed with both human and natural resources. However, the current level of national development highlights a gap in our ability to fully utilize these resources. The Faculty of Science International Conference (FOSIC) was initiated as a platform to rally the scientific community to respond to this challenge through innovation and collaboration.
